The best cafes in Barcelona

When we first moved to Barcelona, our tiny Airbnb became a place to sleep rather than live. We quickly learned that we needed a bit more space in the daytime to work so we started looking for the best cafes that we could escape to. Our criteria were simple: good iced coffees, free Wi-Fi, ice-cold air conditioning, a central location, and yummy baked goods.

  • Nudes

Super aesthetic almost Erewhon’esque, with lots of options in terms of food & drinks (vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian-friendly). In Barcelona, it has proved pretty hard to find an iced coffee with an acceptable amount of ice but Nudes does it really well (they use Oatly barista milk as well so bonus points for that) If you’ve seen those Erewhon smoothies all over TikTok, they have similar ones here! Yes, they are a little pricey but omg they are so good! (Morning Glory one is my current fav) They have a brand new location, located just off of Diagonal and it’s a little bigger than the original location but both are great!

  • L’atelier

Located in a nice quiet neighborhood, you have to have this one on your list! I believe they also have a pastry school, and the pastries they have are basically works of art. They also have sandwiches, panettones, chocolates and yummy coffees. Not that super big iced latte we’re used to, it’s a little small, but it’s good! To top it off, they have some really nice seats outside that get sun almost all afternoon!

  • Good News

They have multiple locations all over the city so make sure to check at least one of them out when you’re here. Also, make sure to ask for EXTRA ice in your coffee as they can be a little stingy. I really love their banana bread and the location just off Diagonal (near Nudes) get sun all day long on their outside seats.

  • Lady Babka

Love the location, again it’s just off of Diagonal. Known for their babkas but it’s such a nice place to sit and spend a few hours. If ordering an iced coffee, ask for extra milk, the iced lattes look a little more like iced americanos with a splash of milk. All of the pastries and sandwiches are delicious!
